David McAulay

David McAulay has been working in the music industry for 15 years as artist, engineer and composer. As is so often the case, his first foray was with his own band; in this case Terra Diablo, with whom he had his first opportunity to observe record making from the other side of the glass, and on both sides of the Atlantic. These experiences drove him into the studio with a strong desire to make the records that bands really wanted to make. His skills in the studio and as a musician give him the scope to work with a variety of styles such as the experimental indulgences of Remember Remember on their album ‘The Quickening’ (nominated for Scottish Album of The Year 2011) and the rich musical traditions of Shetland Fiddler Jenna Reid. His recent projects include work with artists Delta Mainline (on their critically acclaimed new album ‘Oh! Enlightened’), Mogwai, Mike Heron and Trembling Bells, Burntisland, Beecake and Moth and The Mirror. David has also in recent years completed the film ‘From Scotland With Love’ as music supervisor and sound designer, working alongside acclaimed producer Viriginia Heath and artist King Creosote on the soundtrack released by Domino Recordings in July 2014.

David is also a freelance composer and sound designer for film and television. He has had his work used by The BBC, Channel 4, Seat Automobiles, Nintendo and various award winning dramas and documentaries. David also lectures in audio engineering.
